Benefits of Partnership
“39.5 million people! How can anyone relate to that number – or any other figures concerning sub-Saharan Africa? We get overwhelmed with statistical overload, losing sight of the fact that each of these numbers represent an individual…a son or a daughter, mother or father, sister or brother, baby…lost dreams, lost childhood, lost futures, a lost generation. Through the partnership between Hospice of Southern Illinois and Ranchod Hospice [Zambia], I have been blessed with the opportunity to put faces and names with these numbers. I have seen hope replace hopelessness. I have seen tremendous strength and dedication. I have seen compassion and caring beyond words.”

- Partnerships benefit African hospices with the knowledge that they are being supported in their hospice and palliative care efforts to care for their patients, families and communities.
- Partnerships provide financial and in-kind support to their African partner from their US hospice partner. Funds help support and expand their programs as well as in-kind donations provide medical and home care supplies, professional journals, books and training materials.
- Partnerships lead African hospices to create long-lasting relationships and a deeper understanding of their US hospice partner’s challenges, goals and successes.
