Become a FHSSA Champion
FHSSA Champions work to raise funds to support a specific project or goal of an African organization in great need. Champions differ from FHSSA Program Partners in that their commitment is for a part or the whole of a onetime purchase or project. FHSSA Champions can also come in all types from an inspired individual wanting to make a difference globally, to a hospice who wants to be involved in end-of-life care in Africa without making a long term commitment, to a school or business seeking to support compassionate care in Africa.
There are a variety of opportunities for FHSSA Champions. FHSSA Champions will impact our African partner organizations by raising funds and awareness for needed items such as vehicles, medications, or supplies as well as continued education and training.
Become a Champion today to support one of the following
projects of your choosing:

Vehicle for Palliative Care Programs: Many African hospice and palliative care programs cover a vast catchment area. Often these areas are only accessible by dirt roads and paths with large distances between homes. With the majority of care provided in patients homes, the addition of a vehicle to health care providers is invaluable in increasing their ability to reach patients, as well as, transport the sickest patients to hospital and hospice facilities. The total sum needed to purchase a vehicle for a program without transportation is $20,000. Champions can support all or part of the vehicle purchase. |
| Nursing Scholarships: Throughout Africa, several Universities and organizations have developed degrees and certificate programs for nurses wishing to specialize in palliative care. In partnership with the African Palliative Care Association, FHSSA currently facilitates a program to award scholarships for continued education to deserving nurses in Africa. By helping to provide nursing scholarships, you will be assisting a nurse already working with a hospice program in increasing his/her ability to give their patients the quality and dignity of life that they deserve. Nursing scholarships are awarded to a maximum of $4,000. |

National Conferences: A growing number of countries throughout Africa have continuingly developing National Associations who work to advocate for hospice and palliative care in their countries as well as provide technical assistance and education in their countries. This champion opportunity will allow you to help National Associations bring together hospice and palliative care professionals from across their country to learn from one another, receive continuing education, and to network. Champions can support any part of the cost of holding a conference. |
