FHSSA is part of a family of affiliated organizations, residing at the National Center for Care at the End of Life in Alexandria, Virginia. Each organization focuses on a specific aspect of quality hospice and palliative care.

Founded in 1978, NHPCO is the world’s premier hospice and palliative care leadership organization. In addition to supporting a diversified membership of hospice and palliative care provider organizations and professionals, NHPCO breaks new ground in professional leadership, consumer and caregiver services, research, legislative advocacy, communications, international development, and issues related to quality care at the end of life.

The National Hospice Foundation envisions a world where everyone facing serious illness, death, and grief will experience the best that humankind can offer.
NHF supports the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s quality and research initiatives; hospice/palliative care provider education activities; consumer engagement and caregiver services; and the FHSSA Impact Fund.
In partnership with NHPCO, NHF works to improve care at the end of life throughout the United States. NHF raises funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations to fund programs that make a difference in the lives of the patients and families served by NHPCO’s membership of more than 3,400 hospice and palliative care providers.

The Hospice Action Network, a 501(c)4 organization, was created by NHPCO in 2007 to provide a more aggressive and comprehensive advocacy voice that will serve the entire field and, ultimately, one of America's most vulnerable populations - those nearing the end of life. As a 501(c)3, NHPCO faces limits on the time and resources that may be used for advocacy on Capitol Hill and at the grassroots level. In the past NHPCO was able to work effectively within those limitations; however, with new and more complicated public policy challenges, a more integrated and intensive approach is needed. The Alliance for Care at the End of Life helps the hospice community meet that challenge.
